Ukuran yang lebih besar membuat LED SMD ini memiliki kinerja yang lebih baik dalam pengiriman panas, yang memastikan LED SMD putih ini dapat menangani arus yang lebih tinggi di sirkuit. Cahaya biru yang dipancarkan oleh substrat LED diserap oleh fosfor, dan cahaya putih dapat diperoleh dengan mencampurkan cahaya biru dengan cahaya kuning yang dipancarkan oleh fosfor.
